The Detroit News reported Michigan House’s Republican leaders have taken away the committee assignments of Democratic Rep. Cynthia Johnson after the Detroit lawmaker issued a “warning” to “you Trumpers” in a Tuesday night Facebook post. In a three-minute video posted to her personal Facebook page, Johnson responded to those making threats and told her supporters to do “things right and in order” but advised Trump’s backers to “be careful” and “walk lightly.” She then said, “We ain’t playing with you.” She also told her supporters to “hit their a—s” in the pocketbook. “Enough of the shenanigans,” Johnson said. “Enough is enough. And for those of you who are soldiers, you know how to do it. Do it right. Be in order. Make them pay.” Just because other politicians act a certain way, it is not a justification for Representative Johnson to stoop to the same low levels. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
Seventeen other state attorneys general have issued their support of the Texas Attorney General suit asking for the elections in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Wisconsin to be overturned. There are now 18 attorneys general who need to mind there own business.
I will never understand politics. Prior to the election, Pelosi and the Democrats wanted a $3 trillion stimulus package and the Republicans wanted a $2 trillion package. At the time, I said the Democrats should compromise and get the $2 trillion now and work on the rest later. Boy, was I right. Here we are now and they are talking about a bi-partisn $900 billion package. It is nice to save a trillion dollars, but what changed to take it from at least $2 trillion to less than $1 trillion now that the election is over. Pelosi gambled and lost. In the meantime, there is no relief for the Americans who are sufferring. It is the old adage, one in the hand is better than two in the bush.

One of my highlghts of the NCAA basketball season is the ACC/B!G challenge that occurs early in the men’s basketball season. These are the two premier basketball conferences in the country going at it in head to head games. Last night was the first night and the B1G held a 5-1 record, however, tonight the ACC is favored in all four of the games. The games involving U of M and MSU were cancelled due to covid-19 issues at North Carolina State and Virginia.
Speaking of basketball, this week is Jimmy V week on ESPN which partners with the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. Jimmy V is Jim Valvano, the former men’s basketball head coach at North Carolina State who died of cancer at age 47. His speech at the ESPN Espy Award Show when he was accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award is one of the best speeches I have ever heard. He died less than 2 months after giving the speech. I have included a link for the speech below. It is worth the 12 minutes of your time to listen to it.
Stay safe, wear your mask, social distance and wash your hands regularly.
“If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special.” Jim Valvano
