Just when you think you have seen everything, something else pops up. Today I watched a TV segment titled “Wheel of Fugitives” a take-off on Wheel of Fortune.
Two law enforcement officers from Escambia County, spin the Wheel of Fugitives, which has pictures of various fugitives with their “wanted” amount. When the wheel stops, the winner’s (or loser) picture and reason for being wanted is shown on the TV. Then the officers go into their pitch. “Crime doesn’t pay but we do. If you have information about the fugitive that leads to the arrest and conviction, you will be eligible for a cash reward, which for todays fugitive was $3,000. Call the number shown on your screen.
To show that I am not making this up, see my Video of the Day.

Sad news from the high school basketball front today. Per multiple sources Cartier Woods, a senior on the Detroit Northwestern boys’ basketball team, went into cardiac arrest during a game Tuesday night and is on life support, according to Nikolai Vitti, superintendent of Detroit Public Schools Community District.
“He was administered CPR and was rushed to Henry Ford Hospital,” Vitti said in an email circulating on social media. “As of this email he is on life support and the next 24 hours are critical to his survival. With permission from Cartier Woods’ legal guardian, his aunt, I send this email to you requesting your prayers, thoughts and/or well wishes for his recovery.”
Quick action by a coach who administered CPR until EMT arrived may have saved Woods life.

The debt limit was front and center in Washington D.C. today as President Biden and Speaker of House, McCarthy met to resolve their differences. Per the NY Time, President Biden told Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday that there was room for discussion about addressing America’s deficit, even as he insisted that Congress would have to pass a debt-limit increase with no strings attached to avoid a financial cataclysm. Mr. Biden and Mr. McCarthy met at the White House for more than an hour in a discussion that carried high stakes, with the federal government set to exhaust its ability to pay its bills on time as early as June. This game of “chicken” has been a staple of D.C. politics even though both parties know the debt limit will continue to be raised again and again.
The time to address deficits and spending is during the budget process, which is controlled by congress. The Republican controlled House is still working on developing its budget priorities. I promise it will not be a balanced budget. It will have a budget deficit just like every other budget that has been presented in the last 50 years or more.
