After waiting patiently, today, within a 4 hour period, Leah and I were both notified by two different sources that we were eligible to schedule our Covid-19 vaccinations. Thanks to Leah’s persistance and a little luck we are both scheduled to have our vaccinations when we return to Michigan next week. The relief knowing it is finally going to happen is very freeing.
The Los Angeles County sheriff says Tiger Woods was “not drunk” during the rollover that seriously injured the golf superstarTuesday, saying the single-vehicle crash was “purely an accident.” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said his department would not file charges against Woods pertaining to the crash near the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, about 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Dr. Anish Mahajan of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center said Woods had sustained multiple “open fractures” to his lower right leg and had a rod placed in his tibia and screws and pins inserted in his foot and ankle during emergency surgery. Because of the extensive injuries, a long and difficult recovery is expected.
It looks like Governor Whitmer and the state legislature will eventually get a Covid-19 relief bill in place in the near future. They have a long way to go to settle their differences but at least they are talking things out. It is about time.
It is only a few days into spring training and I am getting a charge out of new Tiger manager A. J. Hinch. His Stanford education translates to how he views a baseball game. Analytics and figuring out what works with each players are priority one for him. Talking about zone defense is a new concept in baseball. It is going to be enjoyable watching how this plays out.
It finally happened. After coming to Alabama for so many years, I finally played a round of golf on one of the Robert Trent Jones Trail golf courses. Today, I played the Falls course at Mangolia Grove near Mobile, Alabama. The course was a great layout, fair but tough. I do not think I had a level lie once during the round. Everything was uphill, downhill, sidehill or both. Lots of strategically placed bunkers but no blind shots. An enjoyable experience on a gorgeous day.
Stay safe. Wear your mask. Social distance, Wash your hands regularly. Schedule your vaccine.
Quote of the Day: “Words matter. Tone Matters. Civility Matters” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.
Orchid of the Day: The Grand Rapids Parks Department will deploy a robot to mark the lines on all of the city’s sports fields. The robot uses inputted GPS coordinates to automatically mark field lines, freeing up parks staff to tackle other tasks and saving about $5,000 annually in labor and material costs in the process, according to city officials. If you have seen some of the foul lines I have seen on baseball fields over the years, you would understand why I give this an orchid of the day.
Onion of the Day: Amanda Fisk, a Middleville, Michgian council member and village president, posted a long series of “HAHAHA” next to a news story about Limbaugh’s death last week. What was she thinking?
Tom, Karen and I are on Amelia Island and we were able to get our first Pfizer shot over a week ago and we are scheduled to get the second shot soon. Once that is done we are off to Texas. Nassau county was very helpful getting the shots scheduled.
