I get so sick and tired of the constant game playing that goes on between Governor Whitmer, Senate Leader Shirkey and Speaker Wentworth (previously Chatfield). While they are playing games and not working out solutions through compromise, the citizens of Michigan are suffering. Why is it so hard for the three of you to sit down and come up with solutions to the problems that this state is facing? The latest issue regarding the timing of the release of federal stimulus funding is beyond rediculous. In case the three of you do not know, the definition of compromise is: a settlement of differences reached by mutual concessions.
The story out of the Detroit Zoo yesterday is a real bummer. On Monday, 20-year-old polar bear Anana died when Nuka, 16, the zoo’s adult male bear, was attempting to breed with her, officials reported. It was the first time an animal at the site had killed another since 1988. The last occurrence also involved polar bears, the zoological society said. According to Detroit Zoological Society Chief Life Sciences Officer Scott Carter, Anana and Nuka had lived together without incident in 2020.
As if we don’t have enough to worry about, I read about a cyper attack on a small Florida town’s water treatment plant. Hackers remotely accessed the water treatment plant and briefly changed the levels of lye in the drinking water, The attack in Oldsmar, a city of 15,000 people in the Tampa Bay area, was caught before it could inflict harm, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri of Pinellas County said at a news conference on Monday. He said the level of sodium hydroxide — the main ingredient in drain cleaner — was changed from 100 parts per million to 11,100 parts per million, dangerous levels that could have badly sickened residents if it had reached their homes.
Stay safe. Wash your hands regularly. Social distance. Wear your mask. Schedule your vaccine.
Quote of the Day: “This is dangerous stuff. It’s a bad act. It’s a bad actor. It’s not just a little chlorine, or a little fluoride — you’re basically talking about lye.” Sheriff Gualtieri
Orchid of the Day: GM’s self-driving 2021 Cadillac Escalade. It went 280 miles from Hammond, Indiana to Detroit and the driver only had to touch the wheel 4 times.
Onion of the Day: Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey who was caught on tape and referred to the violent Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., as a “hoax” in a meeting with county party leaders, a video recording of the interaction showed.
