Rambling on day today.
I am amazed how the former president continues his march toward the Republican presidential nomination. I guess what happened on January 6, 2021, doesn’t matter to many of the members of the Republican party. I guess 93 criminal charges and multiple civil suits is not a problem in choosing the leader of the free world. I just don’t understand.

I get a kick out of some of the political advertisements down here in Alabama. In the congressional republican primary, one guy indicates he is the only true conservative, and he is supported by the former president. The other guy says he is more conservative and is supported by the former president. The former president’s support is what matters. I don’t get the kowtowing for the support of the former president. I just don’t understand.

Today I talked to my neighbor from Ypsilanti, Gordon Cahours, who will turn 104 in less than a month. Every time I talk to him, I am amazed. He is so smart, so coherent, so active. Such an inspiration. He is like the energizer bunny; he just keeps on going.

No surprise here. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jim Harbaugh is leaving the national champion Michigan Wolverines to accept the head-coaching job with the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers. Harbaugh has agreed to a five-year deal with the Chargers.

Penei Sewell, the Lions all-pro right tackle, earned a 97.5% run blocking grade in Sunday’s divisional round matchup with the Bucs. It was the highest grade given to any offensive lineman in playoff history. He gets my Orchid of the Day.

Quote of the Day: “Wow, we have a lot of work to do. We’re going to roll up our sleeves, continue to scrap, claw, and make sure we compete. Compete with a group of guys that want to be out there, want to play at the level of a playing team.” Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard after getting beat by Purdue yesterday 99-67, the worse loss in 17 years.
Orchid of the Day: Penei Sewell, Lions’ all-pro right tackle for receiving the highest run blocking grade ever in a playoff game.
Onion of the Day: Those who turn a blind eye to what happened on January 6, 2021, and continue to support the former president. I just don’t get it.
Question of the Day: Are you surprised about Harbaugh’s departure to the NFL?
