Thoughts for the Day, March 6, 2024: I cannot believe that we are facing a rematch of 2020. FUBAR

My favorite organization, the NCAA, continues to amaze me. After the B1G and the NCAA opened an investigation into U of M’s football team for alleged sign stealing, the NCAA has finally seen the light of day.  Starting this coming season, the NCAA will follow the NFL rules which allows electronic communication installed in the helmets of one offensive player and one defensive player from a sideline coach prior to the start of every play.

The NFL has been doing this for over 20 years, yet the NCAA could never come up with a reason to make this happen.  It took the alleged sign stealing incident by Michigan to get the NCAA to do something that should have been done over 20 years ago.

Mark my words, the NCAA will still go after Michigan for the alleged transgressions even though the transgressions would be a mute-point this coming year.

I always looked forward to Super Tuesday as an important day in the presidential primary process. It was usually a day that separated the pretenders from the contenders.  Unfortunately, there was nothing super about yesterday’s Super Tuesday.

After Super Tuesday 2020, it was clear we would have a 77-year-old former VP taking on a 73-year-old with no political experience.

After yesterday’s Super Tuesday, we now have a rematch with a former 77-year-old president taking on 81-year-old incumbent president.  This leaves voters with choices of having the option of choosing between two guys both of which will be over 80 years old when their term ends.

This leads to my Questions of the Day. How did our two major political parties allow us to get into this predicament?  How many people under 45 years old can relate to either of these candidates? What does this say about this country’s political process?

Now that it is clear who the respective nominees will be, I am going to speak my mind about the upcoming presidential election.

I have tried to be open minded about politicians over the years.  Even when I disagreed with their politics, I tried find good in what each president did. In the 55 years that I have voted for presidents, there are only two presidents that I could not look past their personal character flaws, which outweighed everything else. Richard Nixon is one and our current former president is the other.

I believe in my heart that both presidents were an embarrassment to our country while they were in office because of their character flaws.  Both ran campaigns on the importance of law and order, but both totally ignored the law when it came to their personal behavior while president.

Nixon and his VP Spiro Agnew were both forced to resign from office because of their criminal behavior.  Our current former president was impeached twice and is facing 93 criminal charges against him. He has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault in civil court, and he has been ordered to pay $450 million in fines and interest after being found guilty of falsifying financial records.

His action on January 6, 2021, showed the true character of the man. I can never forget or forgive what happened that day.  Thanks to the former president and his supporters, a confederate flag flew in our capitol for the first time.  Thanks to the president and his supporters five people died that day and nearly 1,000 have been arrested and found guilty of serious criminal charges.

In my opinion, the former president has shown that he does not have the moral compass and character to be the face of the free-world and president of our country. The former president does not deserve my vote, nor in my opinion does he deserve anyone else’s vote.  Yet, he continues to be the face of the Republican Party. FUBAR.

Now that it is clear it will be a Biden vs. the former president, I want to share a quote from Heather Cox Richardson, which becomes my Quote of the Day. “People had better start paying attention.”

Feel free to share my blog.  To receive it in an email, please see the subscribe button below the Video of the Day.

Quote of the Day: See above from Heather Cox Richardson

Orchid of the Day: Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinsons. Mindy Eisenberg founded Yoga Moves MS 18 years ago but has been giving classes for people with Parkinson’s disease since 2018. She received a grant from the Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s for the free classes for people with the disease from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Onion of the Day:  Robert Menendez, the Democratic senator from New Jersey who already faced bribery charges, was charged in an 18-count superseding indictment. The Democrats should have removed him from the senate a long time ago.

Question of the Day: See above.

Video of the Day: If we are going to have 80-year-old presidents, I might as well have 80-year-old rockers express my feeling today.

I’m cringing Uncle Tom. Is this all we have!? Where’s a young generation willing to run? Honestly, wheres my generation stepping up to to the task. It’s so bad. And I can’t and probably will not understand how Trump can run for President with so many cases against him. I get it. He’s not guilty to proven he’s guilty but come on!
