It was bound to happen sooner or later. After three years, I ran into my first technical problems with my blog. It appears they have been resolved and I should be back up an running on Tuesday. In the meantime I am providing a shortened version tonight.

I know I would not want to be in Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s shoes today. The entire world economy is resting on her shoulders. She has predicted that the U.S. will run out of money to pay its debts by June 1. In the meantime, Biden and McCarthy are going to use every second they have between now and then to try to scratch out as much as possible from the other. They both will wait until the last minute before any compromise occurs. Both are assuming that Yellen’s forecast are correct and June 1 will be the earliest date we run out of money.
What is she is wrong and its May 31 or May 30 or May 29? What will happen then? How will the negotiations change? In the meantime, the world is watching and it is not a pretty site.

I had to laugh when I started reading about who is on Putin’s new list of people he has banned from entering Russia. I am trying to figure out how Heather Cox Richardson is a threat to Russia.

Like so many golf fans this weekend, I was rooting for club pro Michael Block at the PGA Championship. Block, the head pro at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California, finished tied for 15th at 1-over 281. It was the best finish for a club professional at the PGA Championship since Lonnie Nielsen tied for 11th in 1986. His rounds were full of excitement as he incurred a dreaded “shank” and then on Sunday, he had a hole-in-one. Based on the interviews I watched and everything I read Block has a true love for the game. See my Video of the Day.

One of the great things about technology is that it makes living in Petoskey a little bit easier. This weekend, I was able to watch my grandson Nolan’s travel baseball games via streaming, and tonight I was able to watch my granddaughter Alaina’s band fifth grade band concert. It is not the same as being there, but is a nice alternative.

Leah and I have never been “pack rats” or collectors of stuff. It has really paid off this last week. In less than five days after moving we have nearly everything unpacked and put away. There is very little clutter in the house and we can get both cars in the garage, along with three bikes and two kayaks. The move has gone much better than I ever would have anticipated. The only down side, my allergies are feeling like deja vu’ all over again. I had to deal with all the trees budding in Ypsi prior to our move and now I am having to deal with it all over again. It is further complicated with all the midge flies that occur every time at this time of year. Such a tough life I live.
Quote of the Day: “It’s been a surreal experience, and I had this weird kind of sensation that life is going to be not quite the same moving forward,” Michael Block said.
Orchid of the Day: Michael Block, see above.
Onion of the Day: The gremlins who have messed with my blog the last few days.
Question of the Day: How would you like to be in Janey Yellen’s shoes right now?
Video of the Day:
Michael Block’s hole in one.
Interesting that Putins hit list is the same as DJT ”s.
Jeff,
I am offended that I didn’t make the list.
