I Place my Hope in Women Voters
It is coming down to crunch time with the election only four days from now. I know it is going to be a tight race, but I am confident Harris will prevail. I am confident because I know most women in this country are going to come through in the clutch. I know that the women of this country are going to do the most important thing they can do to protect their health, their daughters’ health and their granddaughters’ health. I know most women are not going to let a misogynist, rapist, sexist, and convicted felon occupy the White House and prevent a woman’s access to whatever form of health care a woman needs.
I place my hope in women voters, and I know they are going to come through. See my Video of the Day
Think About This if You Have Not Voted Yet.
Per multiple sources. yesterday, the Commerce Department reported that from July through September, the nation’s economy grew at a solid 2.8%. Consumer spending is up, as is investment in business. The country added 254,000 jobs in September, and inflation has fallen back almost to the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%.
It is extraordinarily rare for a country to be able to reduce inflation without creating a recession, but the Biden administration has managed to do so, producing what economists call a “soft landing,” rather like catching an egg on a plate. As Bryan Mena of CNN wrote today: “The US economy seems to have pulled off a remarkable and historic achievement.”
Four years ago on October 30, 2020, the S&P 500 was 3,270. As of October 30, 2024, it was 5,814, a 78% increase.
How Biden does not get credit for turning around the economy is beyond me. There is too much misinformation being circulated and too many people are not doing their homework.
You Either Agree with Him, or He wants you Locked up or Dead
I have watched the complete interview between #45 and Tucker Carson, in which #45 made comments about former Republican Congresswomen, Liz Cheney. “She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face.”
He said this in the context of complaining about Cheney and other people in Washington D.C. “You know, they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building, saying, ‘Oh, gee, well, let’s send, let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy.’”
If this was a stand-alone statement, I would give #45 a pass. The problem is that it is not a stand-alone statement. His words are threats. He knows that he was followers who are more than willing to carry out his threats.
#45 incited the January 6, insurrection at the Capitol. He worked the crowd into a frenzy such that they were going to storm the Capitol, even though #45 denies ever saying he told them to storm the capitol. #45 uses words to manipulate his followers. #45 knows that he can say something that is right up to the edge of being illegal and his followers will take the next step to carry out #45’s desires. If you do not believe me, ask yourself why he felt it was necessary to tell his followers to stand down during the second debate with Biden in 2020. #45 knew his followers were just waiting for him to give them the go ahead, which he did at the Ellipse on January 6, 2021.
Trump can walk back his comments about nine guns facing Liz Cheney all he wants in public, but he knows that he has many followers that will be more than willing to carry out his dirty work. If you do not believe me, just look up the more than 1,000 people arrested and convicted following the January 6, 2021, insurrection. Look at the tapes showing the march from the Ellipse to the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Nearly everyone marching on the Capitol was willing to carry out #45’s dirty work.
Don’t be fooled by #45’s walking back his comments about Liz Cheney. His comments had nothing to do with her being a warmonger. His comments about facing nine rifles were his way of getting back against Cheney for her role in the January 6, 2021, Select Committee, and for Cheney’s role in the Harris’ campaign.
As so many of his former staff members have said, #45 looks for loyalty over any other characteristic in the people that surround him. You either agree with him, or he wants you dead or locked up. Think Pence, Pelosi, Cheney, Hillary, Biden, Comey, and Smith, just to name a few. Think of all of the election officials in 2020 who were threatened by his followers.
#45 is acting more and more like a dictator who will use his followers to carry out his wishes. If he gets elected to a second term, there will be nothing holding him back. The Supreme Court has removed most of the guardrails that previously existed. All he must do is declare that he is carrying out official business, and he can do whatever he wants.

World Series
Dodgers win the series in five games with the come from behind 7-6 victory over the Yankees on Wednesday. The Dodgers came back from a 5-0 deficit to tie the game at 5-5. After the Yankees went ahead 6-5, the Dodgers scored two in the eighth inning to take the lead again 7-6. Coming back from a five-run deficit and then winning the game was the largest deficit ever overcome by the winning team in World Series history.
The Dodgers are a team that does the little things that matter. They rarely beat themselves. The Yankees not so much. The five unearned runs they gave up in the fifth inning were a prime example. The inning was a microcosm of the series for the Yankees. They gave the Dodgers six outs in the inning with errors by the centerfielder and shortstop, compounded by the pitcher not covering first base on a ball hit to the first baseman. If
John Smoltz, Hall of Famer and TV Analyst Extraordinaire
Smoltz, who grew up in Lansing, was a top Tiger prospect when he was traded in 1987 to the Braves for Doyle Alexander at the trade deadline. It was short term win for the Tigers as Alexander went 8-0 for the Tigers as they won the Eastern Division to get into the playoffs against the Twins. It was a long-term win for the Braves as Smoltz went on to have a Hall of Fame career. He is the only player in MLB history to have 200 wins, 150 saves, and 3,000 strikeouts. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2015.
Since 2016 he has been a color analyst for Fox Sports’ coverage of the All-Star Game and World Series. Like his baseball career, he is the best in the business as a color analyst. His insight from being there in tight situations and his complete knowledge of the game is shared with the viewers. He has the right balance of knowing when to talk and knowing when to be quiet. He knows when to praise and when to be critical. He rarely criticizes a player, manager or umpire. Instead, he criticizes the action that occurred. It is not about him; it is about the viewer.
Last night was a prime example. After Aaron Judge dropped a fly ball in the fifth inning to open the floodgates for the Dodgers, Smoltz had no problem telling the viewers the Yankees continue to struggle with the little things that during the season are overcome by their ability to play smashmouth baseball. However, against the Dodgers, the little things usually come back to haunt you. At the same time, he made the point that Judge’s error is something that is a one-in-a-thousand occurrence, and it is likely that Judge will never make that error again for the remainder of his career. His insights and his honesty are what make Smoltz so good as an analyst.
A Great Football Weekend
Michigan is playing undefeated and number one ranked Oregon this weekend and MSU is playing undefeated Indiana. Number 4 Ohio State takes on Number 3 Penn State.
On Sunday, the Lions travel to Green Bay in a clash for first place in the NFC North. The game is being billed as America’s Game of the Week.
It is not likely, but it would be great if M, MSU, and the Lions all win.

Quotes of the Day: Tom Corbett, a former Republican governor and attorney general of Pennsylvania, said he was “totally shocked” by Mr. Trump’s remarks. “When you see actions like that, you certainly have to question the ability of someone to function in the role of president,”
“As a survivor of political violence, I ask my fellow Arizonans and American patriots to reject Trump’s calls for violence and retribution,” Gabby Giffords, the former Democratic member of Congress from Arizona, who survived an assassination attempt in 2011 that left her with a grievous brain injury
Orchid of the Day: The Los Angeles Dodgers for playing baseball the way it is supposed to be played. Baseball is a beautiful game when it is played the way the Dodgers did in the World Series
Onion of the Day: #45 for his comments about Liz Cheney needing to face nine guns trained at her face.
Question of the Day: Why will anyone vote for a wannabe dictator?
Video of the Day: This is speech is worth every minute. The last half is for men who do not understand the issues of women’s health.
