I cannot help but think that Phizer deliberately waited to make the announcement of their vaccine’s success rate of nearly 90% until after the election on November 3 and after President Elect Biden was declared the winner by the major media outlets. I think waiting was the right thing to do. It is amazing the positive impact this announcement has had on the stock market.
After 9/11 I had great respect for the leadership provided by then New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. I didn’t always agree with his politics but I really thought he showed great leadership at a time when his city needed someone in charge. I never pictured him as being a follower. His actions recently are baffling to me. I cannot figure out if he is nothing more than a follower of President Trump who is willingly being Trump’s mouthpiece and doing Trump’s dirty work. Or is Giuliani a genius who is playing Trump for everything he has while running up enormous legal fees. What do you think?
Today it was unseasonably warm in SE Michigan. We had 25 guys play in the King’s Men golf group today, most of them were wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts. Exactly one year ago this week, SE Michigan was hit with an 8 inch snowfall which no one was prepared for. What a difference a year makes. It is probably the first positive thing I have said about 2020 since mid-March. Yesterday it was 75 in Petoskey.
I continue to be very concerned about the unprecedented increase in Covid-19 cases in Michigan We are averaging nearly 3,000 cases per day with a quadruple increase in hospitalizations. Washtenaw County’s numbers are also increasing at unprecedented numbers. Unfortunately I see our Governor and county health officials tightening up the restrictions as we head into Thanxgiving. The really alarming number is the recent 12% positivity rate.
Yesterday was the 45th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald memorialized in the song The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot. Here is my favorite you tube video. Enjoy.
