Get Over It, Trump is not Going To Follow the Rules
It has already started. To date, Trump and his team have not met any deadlines related to the signing of conflict-of-interest statements for himself and his team. The NY Times has written about it. Senator Elizabeth Warren has raised a concern saying he is breaking the law. The Biden administration is holding back the approval of government clearance until the documents have been signed. The important transition of our government is at risk.
Get over it. He doesn’t care. His transition team has their plan. They do not need clearance. The president elect has no intention of complying with any such regulation. He can wait until January 21, 2025. Once he is sworn in, he is immune from having to comply with government rules, regulations, laws, and duties if he is doing it as part of his job of being president. The Supreme Court will back him. No one in the Justice Department will prosecute him. The Republican controlled House and Senate will cheer him on to do more outside the rules and regulations.
He has no guardrails. He has a mandate from the majority of U.S voters to do his thing in the manner he sees fit.
Nurse Practitioners
For the last fifteen years, I have been a big supporter of nurse practitioners. I have seen the quality of work they provide. I have seen how well they communicate with patients. Since moving to Petoskey, I have a nurse practitioner as my primary care provider.
Here are excerpts from an opinion piece in the Detroit News by Patricia Wells, a Michigan based family nurse practitioner with more than 10 years of experience in primary care.
Michigan is facing a primary care shortage that’s only getting worse. It’s time to look at realistic solutions to address this crisis, and one clear step forward is Senate Bill 279. This bill would grant Full Practice Authority (FPA) to nurse practitioners across the state, opening the door to better access to healthcare for everyone.
Granting FPA allows nurse practitioners to use their training, skills and education without unnecessary restrictions. This change doesn’t give us a broader scope than we’re already qualified for; it just removes outdated barriers that prevent us from fully serving our patients. In states where nurse practitioners have Full Practice Authority, they have successfully filled primary care gaps, especially in rural areas with limited access to doctors.
I wholeheartedly agree with this recommendation and encourage the state to approve Senate Bill 279.
Dan Campbell is Special, and the Players Love Him Because of It.
Since the injury to Aiden Hutchinson, the Lions needed a big-time edge rusher who could put pressure on the opposing QB. Hours before the trade deadline, the Lions were able to obtain Za’Darius Smith from the Browns. Smith is a former pro-bowl edge rusher. He is one of the best in the business and he was languishing with the Browns.
Lion fans were looking forward to Smith playing against the division-leading Houston Texans and their extremely talented QB, C.J. Stroud. Most fans never considered that the Lions would not activate Smith for the game with the Texans. Smith is a stud, and the Lions needed all hands-on deck. However, Lions’ fans do not know head coach Dan Campbell as well as they thought they did.
The week the Lions were playing Houston was supposed to be a bye-week for the Browns. Smith was supposed to have the week off to recover from all the aches and pains incurred in the first part of the season. The recovery is important for a player’s health. Furthermore, Smith’s home in Florida was hit hard by the hurricanes, and Smith had not been able to visit his home during the football season. Smith was planning on going home during his bye-week to check on his home and get things in order. Although Smith was willing to play against Houston, Lions head coach Dan Campbell would have no part in it.
Campbell gave Smith three days off to attend to his home and did not activate him for the game with Houston. Smith was able to return in time to attend the game and he was active on the Lions’ sidelines encouraging his new teammates as they were overcoming a 16-point half-time deficit.
After the game Smith told reporters, “I was just talking to Coach, I can’t wait (to get out there). I hate that he gave me this week off. Obviously, I didn’t want it,”…”That’s something that they wanted for their players and that’s what I love about this football team, because they care about their players, and … he was a player, so he understands what’s going on.”
Dan Campbell gets my Orchid of the Day.
Last Day of Golf
Today was my last day of golf for the season. It was a beautiful sunny day at Antrim Dells. It was a high of 48 with little wind. It was cold to start but by the end of the round we were shedding layers of clothing. It was a perfect way to end a great golf season. My next round of golf will be in Gulf Shores, Alabama during the first week of January.
