Quote of the Day: “This is Maine. This is not happening. This stuff doesn’t happen in Maine. Everybody’s nice. We usually don’t have problems.” A patron at the bowling alley where the first of two shootings occurred.
Question of the Day: Why?

A single gunman killed in one hour as many people who are usually killed in one year in Maine. So many lives have been changed as they never imagined possible. My heart goes out to the friends and families of the victims and to the people of Maine.

As this carnage in Maine was occurring Wednesday evening, I was watching a video which a friend of mine, who coincidentally is from Maine, had sent me earlier in the day. The video is an interview with Heather Cox Richardson by Judy Woodruff of PBS. The interview is about hope for America. With what is happening in America where the divide between political views seems to be getting wider and wider, the video reminded me that our country has a long history of overcoming major divides and growing stronger. After I watched the video, I then saw the news about Maine. The hope I gained from the video helped me as I read about the breaking news in Maine. This video is worth the time.
